With deep understanding and empathy for people struggling with the pressures of daily life, self-worth, self-harm and suicidality, I appreciate how difficult it can be to talk candidly about these issues and the associated emotional pain involved. I endeavour to provide a kind listening ear to help work through these issues. As a pluralistic practitioner, I work across a range of delivery mechanisms and modalities that can be person- centred, psychodynamic, CBT or a combination thereof.
Respect the person as a whole
My clinical experience counselling adults who have suffered traumatic adverse childhood experiences, sexual assault and domestic violence has clarified my resolve to work with people before their best attempts at coping alone become dangerous and unhelpful and habitual.
I have developed an understanding of how debilitating anxiety and depression can be. When adults and young people struggle with normal daily tasks and attendance, the drive for safety overrides any zest and ability to engage with the outside world including work, leisure, education and learning.
Years of experience as a crisis helpline volunteer has cemented this belief that the earlier the intervention and the opportunity to talk, the better the outcome.
I respect and value the uniqueness of each person and therefore adapt my therapy to your individual needs.
I take my responsibility as a psychotherapist seriously and am committed to providing you with the support and guidance you need.
I value each person as an individual and recognize your strengths and weaknesses in order to offer you a supportive and respectful therapy.
With my many years of experience and my in-depth training in psychotherapy, I am competent and qualified to offer you the support and guidance you need.
I structure our therapy sessions clearly and transparently to ensure that we can achieve your therapy goals together and measure your progress.
I am transparent in my work and communicate openly and honestly with you about your progress, challenges and goals to ensure that you are always informed and involved.
